Sumaya's Biography

I have been passionately studying Belly Dance for several years now.  I am very excited because as of January 2004,  I have decided to perform publicly.  I have danced at private parties, haflas, shows and fine restaurants and nightclubs in Chicago such as Ya Halla Cafe, Sahara ,  Prestige, Athar,  Samah,  115 Bourbon Street, and the House of Blues. 

My past instructors have included Ayana, Tipsuda,  and Magda. I highly recommend Magda as an instructor because she is passionate, patient, and generous with her time and instruction. Magda can make anyone feel at ease in her class and is able to break down difficult moves so that they are easy to understand.

 I have also studied under the watchful eye of Sadiyah, the best improv teacher in the city.  As such, I have developed an appreciation for the art and drama of improvisational dancing.

Because I am crazy-passionate about belly dance, I try to take as many workshops as possible to increase my dance knowledge. Luckily there are many, many great instructors who travel to the Great Lakes area to teach. I have been fortunate enough to complete workshops with:
